Brian T Milpitas , CA September 02, 2016 Switch shaft that knob attaches to was broken Switches needed to be replaced. Make note of where each screw comes from. They were not all the same. To remove the front panel and get to the switches, you have to partially remove the cook top. Removed 5 screws from the back to release the cooktop. Slid the cooktop back far enough to expose screws holding on the front panel. Removed 4 screws from the top and 6-8 from the bottom (opened the oven door to get to the bottom screws). Removed screws from the front panel holding the switch in place. Took a picture of the wire orientation on the existing switch. Removed the wires from the old switch, attached to the new switch and put everything back together. Some of the wires were a little difficult to remove from the old switch. Some seem to snap off easily, others took a little effort. Repair was not very difficult if you keep track of where everything came from. To me about 30 minutes of actual work. Another 30 minutes or so cleaning the years of grease buildup before putting it back together. Frank M Asheboro , NC December 19, 2016 Appliance: Model GE SPOECTRA The large burner that i use most all the time it would not turn off and was still turned on slightly and had heat on that burner I replaced the on and off switch for the big burner, each one is different for each burner. The problem is inside the switch there and you can not get it apart, just replaced it and it will really heat now , too hot now and you have to turn it way down to a lower temperature , it is working good. They had good pictures of the switch that I needed on the web site, pulled it up and looked at it to make sure that was the one I needed, I could not find it any place else, but they had it here at Appliance Part Pro, got it here in about two days like they said, and there it was in my mail box. Just take several pictures with your cell phone of where all the wires hookup on the back of that switch , and get them back on right. Read More...
