Description
The TOP BEARING W/ SEALS is an OEM part for GE dryers. It incorporates both the bearing and seals that facilitate smooth drum rotation at the top of the dryer cylinder. During cycles, the bearing supports the weight of the tumbling drum while the seals prevent hot air from escaping around the drum shaft.
Symptoms of a faulty top bearing and seals include:
- Excessive noise or vibration from the area housing the drum shaft
- Reduced drying efficiency as hot air leaks around the drum perimeter
- The dryer tub potentially hanging crooked within the cabinet
- Difficulties with the drum rotating or staying on track at the top
Causes of failure are typically normal wear over thousands of cycles. Lint contamination or impact damage can also degrade the seals or disrupt proper bearing lubrication.
