Description

This high-voltage transformer steps household power up to the level needed to energize the magnetron. Replacing a failing transformer can restore consistent microwave heating and reduce excessive humming under load. What it does and common symptoms:

• Steps up AC line voltage to power the magnetron through the high-voltage circuit
• Microwave runs but does not heat food
• Loud humming or buzzing when a cycle starts
• Blows internal fuse or trips breaker immediately after pressing Start (can also be caused by other HV components)

• 1 high-voltage transformer

Install notes:

• Disconnect power; microwave high-voltage components can retain a lethal charge
• Discharge the high-voltage capacitor before handling any internal parts
• Note and photo-document wire positions; transfer one lead at a time to avoid miswiring
• Support the transformer's weight during removal/installation and reuse original mounting hardware and insulators

Helpful tip:

• "No heat" can also result from a failed magnetron, HV diode, or HV capacitor; diagnose related components before replacing the transformer.
