This damper assembly controls airflow within the range hood or over-the-range ventilation system. It opens to allow exhaust air to vent outside during operation and closes to prevent outside air from flowing back into the kitchen. Replace this part if the damper is stuck open or closed, rattles in the wind, or if you notice reduced ventilation performance or cold drafts coming through the vent.
