Description

This is a genuine OEM replacement clutch cable for a lawn tractor with a mechanical clutch system. A mechanical clutch is a simple transmission system engaged when the operator pushes a lever. The clutch cable transfers energy from the motor and either engages or disengages the mower blade. The clutch is essentially a brake for the mower blade. This allows the operator to stop mowing without having to turn off their appliance. The clutch cable can tense up in colder climates and snap, or alternatively, it can lose tension over time and no longer provide enough force to engage the clutch. Should this happen, the operator will not be able to turn the mower blade off or on, depending on what position the clutch is in. To replace the clutch cable, detach the lower deck from the lawn mower and disassemble the old cable with a pair of pliers. Replace with a new part and reassemble the lower deck. This repair is easy and straightforward but be sure to not lose the clips that hold the lower deck in place.
