This is a rubber wheel ring that attaches to the wheel hub. Rubber wheel rings are also often called friction rings. The rubber wheel ring/friction ring meshes with the friction disc. This is what causes the drive wheel axle to turn. This is an integral part of the wheel movement.A new rubber wheel ring may be needed if the existing part is visibly damaged. The operator may also notice a grinding noise when the rubber wheel ring is starting to go bad. This may need to be replaced over time after normal wear and tear.
