This is a smoothtop assembly intended for use with ranges by major manufacturers. This component is located on top of the stove and protects the wiring and heating elements on the interior. The smoothtop assembly is made of strong glass. This part can become damaged and may be unsafe for use. If this happens, the smoothtop assembly will need to be replaced.A set of basic tools will be needed to replace this part. Work gloves can also be useful for preventing injuries from broken glass. First, turn off the range. Unplug it from the wall and make sure it is cool to the touch. Open the oven to remove the screws that hold the smoothtop assembly in place. Pick it up and disconnect the heating elements and wires. Next, install the new smoothtop assembly and hook back up the internal components.
