It helps prevent water spots and streaking on dishes by reducing surface tension on the water. Replace this part if rinse aid leaks prematurely, the dispenser cap won't stay closed, or your dishes come out spotted despite having rinse aid in the reservoir.

Ordered new top rack and changed out the rusty one. Taking the washer arm off the old one and putting it on the new one was a bit challenging but my husband is good with those things and it went well. Beware that NO instructions come with the rack and there is a bagful of parts that are probably if you want to change rollers or something.
