Kristi B Oregon City , OR December 05, 2020 Appliance: LG Dishwasher LDF7551ST LG dishwasher door crashing open (very heavy) We knew at least one door hinge cable assembly or hinge spring was broken (the door started falling down rapidly and became heavy to close) so we ordered two of each since we had read to go ahead and replace the damaged items on both sides. While we were waiting on the order, the other side must have broken-the door became incredibly heavy and instead of falling open, started crashing down unless it was carefully lowered. We feared it would fall on one of our animals and kill them. We did not remove the dishwasher to diagnose the problem until the items arrived, fearing we would need to remove the electrical components based on a video we watched. (That turned out to not be necessary). We turned off breaker and water to dishwasher, removed waste line from disposal and water line from wall to provide enough slack to pull dishwasher out. (One wrench, one socket wrench, easy peasy. Had a towel handy for spillage from lines.) Moved dishwasher out half-way and removed both door hinge cables, which were completely frayed/broken in half. The hinge springs were totally fine so we will be returning the ones we ordered. We pulled the waste and water line slack back in as we pushed dishwasher back into place, reattached both lines, turned water and power back on. This was a very quick repair and we were glad to save money and not have repair technicians in our house during the Covid-19 surge. It was nice to have two people to watch the slack on the lines as we moved the dishwasher but was not critical. Shannon M Lincoln Park , MI December 10, 2014 Appliance: LG Dishwasher LDF6810ST Heavy door on lg dishwasher I purchased a set of new door springs and cable assemblies. The install was fairly easy but required shutting off the power disconnecting the power cables, water feed, and discharge lines so I could pull the dishwasher out enough to get the side panels off. Taking the side panels off was straightforward, just don't forget the two screws behind the door. I only had a cable broke on one side, but you could see some slight fraying on the second side, so it was a good idea to change both. I also changed the springs, but honestly I'm not sure it it was necessary since the old springs looked relatively new. I think the springs may get stretched over time, so I followed the lead of some others that did the same job. Putting the spring and cables on is easy and requires no tools at all. The job was not hard at all but did require some effort and patience. From start to finish including cleanup took around 45 minutes. Susan J Washington , NJ October 26, 2015 Lg dishwasher silverware basket worn through with holes in bottom My LG Dishwasher is about 5 years old and the silverware basket developed holes in the bottom, resulting in flatware falling through the holes and preventing the bottom water sprinkler from circulating properly. I ordered a new one, and it arrived very quickly. The new one has a better design than the original one with a honeycomb pattern on the bottom.
