We knew at least one door hinge cable assembly or hinge spring was broken (the door started falling down rapidly and became heavy to close) so we ordered two of each since we had read to go ahead and replace the damaged items on both sides. I ordered a new vario motor and a soap dispenser. I turned off the water and the breaker, disconnected the water line and the power at the front base of the unit, disconnected the drain hose from the garbage dispenser, and pulled out the dishwasher and laid it on a blanket on its face. I unscrewed and removed the plainly visible vario motor on the bottom of the machine and removed the cam from the shaft. This filter just captured all the junk in the bottom of my LG dishwasher. There is no cleaning or servicing this thing. You need to replace it. There is NO NEED to pull out the dishwasher. All can be done through the door. Remove the racks. Remove the rotating arm on the bottom (2 screws under the arm). So all of a sudden the dishwasher stops working, "0E error"on the panel. Did some google searches and found that it might be the filter, which I did not know needed to be changed, or worse, the motor. Took the filter off per online tutorial (easy) and mopped up all the stagnant water. Poking around, I find the small rubber check valve that has broken. Had to fish it out with tweezers. Long story short, it was not the motor and I doubt it was the filter. It was this $1.87 rubber drainage... Read more

The dishes were not drying on our 5yr old LG dishwasher. After removing the front door cover, I verified that the blower motor was operational and the vent was not blocked. I removed the diswasher from the cabinet, accessed the heating element from the bottom of the unit, and found the heating element did not have continuity. I bought a new controller first and installed it. The exact replacement controller was no longer available and I had to modify two AC connectors that changed from 3 pins with two wires to two pins with two wires. This was not expected but I made it work just fine by getting the three pin connectors on the cable to fit the two pin by breaking out the center web in the board two pin and then shaving off the raised key plastic on the wires. Followed the LG owner's manual instructions for cleaning the wash "arms". After that was complete the lower arm wouldn't operate. The filter assemble was caked with calcium, so decided to replace it and the lower spray arm and the "Holder" as your catalog described it. Removal and replacement were easy.
