Stuart K Port Huron , MI September 29, 2017 Appliance: Model WM2688HNM (ANBEEUS) Machine was making a rumbling noise Can't buy LG parts in Canada without getting an LG Tech to install. $1000 repair was too steep for me so went on websites and bought from Appliance Parts. Watch the video on Appliance Parts. Note - Joyce from Appliance Parts really helped in identifying the bolts that I needed. Read on and you will see why. Stripped down machine and identified the spider had failed along its three arms. Bearings were still in good condition. Managed to get three bolts off spider but remaining three had same issues as others have mentioned in that they turned without coming off. (turns out the nut is just pressed into the housing within the drum baffle assembly so not much strength, see AP video on stripping it down). In hindsight because the bolts have thread lock on them I should have tried tightening (to break the seal) and then backed them off. Drilled out the three bolt heads and pushed out through the drum baffles. Once you get the baffle out it is an easy strip down. Used adhesive to lock the nuts back in place and set overnight. During that time thoroughly cleaned all the soap scum that had built up over the years to make the inner tub assembly like new. The hardest/fiddliest part of the rebuild, IMHO, was putting the door/tub gasket on. Expect stiff fingers later. I forgot how quite and vibration free a machine should be at full spin. Although I had to pick the parts up at the border it was still much much cheaper and a lot more satisfying than paying the LG Canada cartel. Would I do it again. Definitely. Would I buy from Appliance Parts .. without question. I spoke to Joyce, she was an absolute star, and found the right spider bolts that others said you couldn't get on various threads. If she hadn't found them then I would be going with an alternative home made solution. Good luck and if you need any help just ask. Greg H Londonderry , NH June 20, 2017 Loud noise during the spin cycle My first step after realizing the loud noise came from the main bearing of our LG washer was to order the necessary parts for the repair that A.P.P. recommends. Using Appliance PartsPros.com as my main source for parts and video I began by watching Mitch repair a washer similar to ours. Mitch made it look easy enough and being a repair person myself I thought ok no issue here. So, following A.P.P's suggestions I ordered all the parts and added the main door gasket and spider. Note: The A.P.P.'s videos, are great and Mitch deserves 5 Stars, but do not provide times for how long to let rust free or liquid wrench set before attempting to remove a bolt or in this case the main bearing. Knowing they needed sometime I gave them 10 minutes (not enough time maybe 20 minutes) then proceeded to pound and pound (using a 5 lb sledge). Yes, it finally broke free without any damage to the tub. From there it was time to clean all the parts and the washer before I put it back together. After cleaning I began; first replacing the spider - the issue here was one bolt holding the spider in place had to be ground out. This took extra time as well as another day because I had to order a new bolt. After installing all the new parts it was now time to test the washer - it didn't take long the washer leaked in the first few minutes from being started. The issue here was a loose hose. After trying three times to stop the leak and one phone call to A.P.P. the leak was gone and the washer has been working great since. I need to say during the 6 plus hours it took to complete the repair I contacted A.P.P. for help 4 + times each time I found them professional and courteous. The parts arrived within days of ordering not weeks. AppliancePartsPros.com is great I highly recommend them. - This was my first main bearing. If a main bearing is in your near future don't worry - You can do it. Greg Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 2+ hours Tools: Nut Drivers, Pliers, Screwdrivers, Socket Set

Mark T Dayton , TX March 08, 2017 Appliance: Model LG FRONT LOADER Smoke inside the washer during the spin cycle vibrating noisy Replaced the spider. Had a problem getting one of the bolts out of the spider(stripped out). Cut bolt with a reciprocating saw. Had to replace baffle after cutting the spider bolt. Note: The spider was broken in 2 places. It appeared to have failed from galvanic corrosion. The inner tub and spider bolts are stainless steel and the spider is cast iron. LG needs to look at this design flaw. Read More... 2 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 2+ hours Tools: Nut Drivers, Pliers, Screwdrivers, Socket Set
Kevin B Eagle , ID December 04, 2017 Appliance: Samsung Washer WF330ANB/XAA Decayed and broken spider. The washer had to come all apart of course but APP’s video walked me easily through it. I spent a lot of time cleaning of all the “ washer plaque” before I put it back together. I also got a can of epoxy paint and painted the spider before I reaseambled everything.
