Mark M Tigard , OR April 20, 2022 The water dispenser button broken. Very helpful video from a link on your website (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBIv0bxEhkE), and saved me a major repair bill. My journey started with an effort to replace just the water dispenser button, which failed because the fifth post on the back side of the button (not the four posts which hold the button in place--it's the extra rectangular piece visible near the repairman's pinkie finger at 3:04) had broken off, and it is this piece which reaches and moves the actuator for the water switch. After taking off the dispenser assembly, I also found that for all four of the posts which hold the button to the dispenser assembly (manipulated by the repairman at 2:41), the little plastic nubs on the assembly which fit into the grooves on the button posts had also broken off. This turned my repair into a complete replacement of the the whole assembly and both switches, and required removing and reinstalling all of the components that are attached to the plastic assembly. The circuit board in particular is held in place by plastic clips which are fragile, and I echo the repairman's advice to be cautious in working with these clips so as to minimize breaking them off. While I had no problem with any of the clips holding the assembly to the fridge, I lost a few on the circuit board. Fortunately, there was enough left to hold it in place when reattaching it to the dispenser assembly, but they are fragile. For removing the assembly from the fridge, I would not recommend using the "grab and yank" method depicted in another video. Gentle pressure with the putty knife, working around the edge gradually, worked great for me and no violence was needed, all the clips survived. One last point, I found the water button would not function properly with the springs installed as you depicted. When I moved the springs to the other two posts on the back of the button, it worked perfectly. I wonder if your dispenser had them installed incorrectly--I didn't see you test the water dispenser after reinstalling the whole assembly into the fridge. Thanks for the video, and I had great responsiveness from AppliancePartsPros.com! Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
Johnnie N Tomball , TX November 10, 2019 Appliance: Model LFX31925ST (00) Broken water dispenser mechanism Replaced plastic housing for $100. Recommend buying the whole assembly though. Cost a bit more but you would be done in 15min. When you just replace the housing, you have to disassemble the old one very carefully to reuse several parts that do not come with the housing. A lot of fragile plastics. Plus, make sure you have GooGone and 3M thin tape handy; you will absolutely need it. Again, buy the whole assembly and save time and headache.
