How to Troubleshoot & Replace Lg AP5673937 / ABH74219702 Refrigerator Ice Dispenser Button

Replaced plastic housing for $100. Recommend buying the whole assembly though. Cost a bit more but you would be done in 15min. When you just replace the housing, you have to disassemble the old one very carefully to reuse several parts that do not come with the housing. A lot of fragile plastics. Plus, make sure you have GooGone and 3M thin tape handy; you will absolutely need it. Again, buy the whole assembly and save time and headache. 

Very easy. The new piece just snapped on. We ordered 3 parts and only needed one. We decided to keep the other 2 just in case. 

I followed the video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUKXF4Fkyeo) which showed exactly what needed to be done and in the correct order. it took less than 30 minutes to complete the fix. The hardest part was removing the old dispenser from the refrigerator door. The video says to use a putty knife to remove the part, however I needed to use a knife and box cutter to get the blade to fit between the part and the door. I ended up breaking some of the tabs on the old part but was more concerned about the being careful of the door. Once that was removed, the rest of the fix was a simple step by step process as depicted in the video. 

Ordered the button. 

Ordered the replacement part and installed it. A bit tricky but successful. 

Watch video's and ordered part and changed it myself. 

Replaced push knob. 

Replaced ice dispenser lever by removing entire cutout and replacing the lever. 

A replacement part was exactly what I needed. Installation was simple and everything works fine.
