• Transfers motor rotation to the drum for steady, even tumbling
• If broken, the motor may run but the drum won't turn
• Worn or slipping belts can cause squealing, thumping, or a burning rubber smell
• Cracks, frayed ribs, or glazing are visual signs the belt needs replacement

• Disconnect power; for gas dryers, also shut off the gas supply
• Remove top/front panels and support the drum to access the belt path
• Loop the new belt around the drum and route/tension it per the unit's belt diagram with the idler and motor pulleys
• Spin the drum by hand to check tracking before reassembly and test run
