In the past I replaced a door seal on a different manufacturer’s model so I did some web searching. I could not find a video specifically for my LG model number but decided to attempt to replace it myself after watching videos for similar LG models. As many warned, the LG was more difficult than average. However, if you are mechanically inclined and patient, it is reasonably possible. My suggestions are as follows. Buy a spring spreader. I called LG support and they actually suggested an inexpensive model which I purchased on Amazon. Remounting the spring cable clamps was the most challenging part so have someone available to help. I highly suggest you remove the front panel to provide access to the gasket; some videos suggest you can replace the gasket without removing the front panel. I am dubious about this claim. While very similar, my model was a bit more involved than the model used in the video. Sparingly lubricate the gasket mounting surfaces and spring cables with diswashing soap to aid in assembly. It took me 3 hours including time to clean all mounting surfaces after removing the old gasket and prior to installing the new gasket. Read More...
