Howard F Port Orange , FL April 15, 2020 Appliance: LG Washer WM8000HWA LG front load washer door gasket needed replacement due to mold buildup If you have an older model WM8000H_A you MUST pay attention to the type of door gasket (boot seal) that it uses. Every video I could find for replacing the seal on the WM8000HWA involved a different product than what was required for our specific washer. I wound up getting the wrong one by ordering it without help and had to exchange it - after I had the machine taken apart. Thanks to AppliancePartsPros I got the correct seal and front retaining ring the next day. NOTE! The retaining rings are hugely important. There's an inner and outer ring and they are different sizes. The ring that I received for the inner installation was the wrong one so I used the one from our original seal. It worked fine. The new front ring was correct. The process is really pretty straight-forward after watching a few of the videos. But note also that if your machine uses the same seal as ours, I found it totally impossible to install the outer retaining ring using ANY of the methods seen in the videos. I finally found a video that showed the use of an actual LG branded ring clamp expanding tool. The one I found was about $50 (ouch!) but I'm certain I would not have been able to finish the job without risking damage to the washing machine and/or the brand new seal. I believe that in later versions of the same model washer they changed the shape of certain parts involving the boot seal and installation of the retaining ring is much easier. Save yourself some major time and aggravation by purchasing the expansion tool ahead of time. Kirk D Gilbert , AZ February 24, 2020 Leaking water from bottom of front door. Turned out that the large gray boot/gasket had finally started to harden and deteriorate right at the bottom where the drain hose is. No surprise it leaked after seeing that. Installing the new gasket (and new clamps which I figured I would replace at the same time) did the trick. Fairly simple install. Do yourself a favor and buy the spring pliers to remove/install the clamps. Well worth the time and hassle they will save you. Michael B Swampscott , MA January 14, 2022 N/a One of the drum springs broke and caused the front gasket to be compromised. I ordered the gasket, round clamps and two new drum springs. The new inner clamp was the wrong size and the original clamp had to be used. Videos were helpful but those are produced under perfect conditions. My repair took a bit longer and was successful, and hopefully the washer will last another 5 years. Louis C Corp Christi , TX November 23, 2021 Kenmore front load washer showed drain pump error. I also noticed one of the two water recirculation outlets near the front door was no longer spraying water. When I took it all apart, I found that these two tub water recirculation outlets are both connected to the pump.. one was clogged. The impeller on the drain pump was no longer spinning with the motor.. looks like it was worn on the inside.. when I took the pump apart it was full of scale. I could have just ordered the motor...but I figured I would replace the entire assembly as I also noticed scale build up on the motor rubber o-rings. Because I have my dryer stacked on the washer.. and it's in a small laundry room, I didn't want to take a chance and have to potentially do this repair twice. So I decided to replace the entire pump housing. The repair went very smooth. I rate the repair on the high side only because I have the dryer stacked on the washer. Getting the dryer down from the washer was the hardest part of the repair for me due to the size of the laundry room.
