Rebecca H Linesville , PA May 27, 2015 Appliance: Model 72166339011 The glass tray from the microwave had broken and the interior light bulb was burnt out The tray was an easy fix as I looked up Kenmore Microwave and ordered the replacement. The light bulb was a little trickier as to replace it you must have a special screwdriver that has a 5-pointed bit with a hole in the middle. This is because nothing else is safely serviceable on the microwave. I unplugged the microwave and moved it to my kitchen table to do the work. The entire outside case had to be removed to access the light bulb which is on the upper right side. You must unplug the power wires to the bulb. A little maneuvering got the bulb out as its base is attached. I reversed the procedure to put the new bulb in, then reinstalled the outside case and screws. The light now works and we have a tray, again. CAUTION:DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING ELSE INSIDE THE MICROWAVE AS IT RETAINS POWER FOR A LENGTHY TIME AFTER BEING DISCONNECTED AND YOU DON'T WANT TO MESS WITH THE MICRO-WAVES! John B Sikeston , MO March 07, 2018 Appliance: Model KENMORE ELITE MICROWAVE #721.7920 Light bulb was out on my Kenmore microwave I ordered he bulb from your online store for half the expense as Sears. It arrived as promised and it works. The replacement was somewhat complicated as Sears enjoys using oddball fasteners and I had to drill a bit off the inside of the Torx head screw in order to allow the torx bit to fit into the screws to gain entrance too replace the bulb. Sterling S Susanville , CA August 13, 2016 Appliance: Model KENMORE 721XXXXXXX Microwave light burned out Removed Case Cover. Changed bulb. Grounded power plug by reversing extension cord with only ground pin connected. Essential to help ensure large (dangerous) capacitor is discharged. Waited 1/2 hour hoping for power remaining to drain. Wore Rubber gloves for insulation & avoided working near Capacitor & Transformer. Other than the dangers of these electrical components The bulb change was easy enough. Not recommended for anyone who does not understand the dangers of those two components. The case screws are Torx 25 with the security pin (need special bit). Be careful. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 15-30 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
