The Thermostat is an OEM part for LG wall ovens. It is a temperature-sensitive cut-off switch located near the oven's heating elements that monitors interior temperatures and prevents overheating within the appliance.
Causes of a bad safety thermostat can be related to prolonged exposure to excessive heat inside the oven cavity, defects in the thermostat's microchip or coil components, or damage from corrosion or physical impact over time.
Symptoms of a failed hi-limit thermostat include:
- The oven's main thermostat clicking repeatedly but no temperature rise inside the cavity
- Unexpected shutdowns of the oven during heating cycles
- Smoking or burning smells coming from the oven area
- Tripped circuit breakers obstructing normal oven operation
This OEM LG part is also compatible with some Kenmore models.

F9 error code oven is on but times out because it will not heat up Steven W. • Franksville , WI • May 08, 2015
Looked online. Others said to start with the thermostat because its cheap and easy to fix, so I did. The thermostat is located at the rear of the oven on the back. You need to remove a total of 3 panels to get to it. Do not confuse it with the thermal sensor at the rear of the oven on top. My thermostat was clearly deformed, and I had never run a self clean like other with testify to. Simply replace it - easy. Oven worked like new.
