George S Richardson , TX January 16, 2017 Appliance: Model MCBR1020W, MAGIC CHEF REFRIGERATOR Clicking sound neither freezer nor refrigerator cooling I read the Q & A section from your website and I read several stories from people who had experienced the same problem that I was having. Appliance Parts Techs answer was a bad Ptc Starter. I used your website to look up the part, I ordered a new part. When I received the part it only took a few minutes to remove the old one and install the new Ptc Starter from AppliancePartsPros.com. When I plugged the unit in, the compressor kicked in immediately and it has been 6 days and the unit is working great. Thanks Appliance Parts Pros. Dennis S Sun City , CA September 27, 2016 Appliance: Model MAGIC CHEF MCBR1020W My secondary refrigerator stopped cooling I googled it. I went on line and found a repair video of a similar refrigerator and found that quite often one little part, start relay, prevents the compressor from kicking on. I located the part in my unit, removed and ordered a new one. When the new part arrived it was fixed in minutes. Going on line and educating myself, an hour or two. Accomplishing the repair, less than an hour, finding the part, removing, ordering new and reinstallation. Michael H Saint Petersburg , FL April 14, 2019 Appliance: Model MAGIC CHEF REFRIGERATOR MCBR1020W Fans running but not cooling. The compressor relay would click but the compressor would not start It sounded like the PTC starter was the problem, but I decided to get a defrost timer as well in case it was bad. The timer is simple to replace. Remove a few screws, disconnect the wires, pop them on the new timer, put the screws back in, and done. I hadn't read any hints about installing the starter. It was easy to put in once I figured out how it attached - two slide-on pins. I used a screwdriver to wiggle the old one off, swap out the wires to the new one and slide it on the pins - the only difficulty is getting your hands into a small space. A flashlight is very helpful. The frig worked fine after I replaced the starter. Read More... Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
