How to Troubleshoot & Replace Mcf AP5272246 / 501499900403 Ptc Starter (Compressor Start Device)

I replaced both the Ptc starter or the motor protector. I found a post online through a Google search that said it was likely either one of those parts. 

I googled it. I went on line and found a repair video of a similar refrigerator and found that quite often one little part, start relay, prevents the compressor from kicking on. I located the part in my unit, removed and ordered a new one. When the new part arrived it was fixed in minutes. Going on line and educating myself, an hour or two. Accomplishing the repair, less than an hour, finding the part, removing, ordering new and reinstallation. 

Checked run capacitor, start relay all good. Problem with heat overload sensor, open contacts. 

My husband installed the Ptc starter that I ordered. 

It sounded like the PTC starter was the problem, but I decided to get a defrost timer as well in case it was bad. The timer is simple to replace. Remove a few screws, disconnect the wires, pop them on the new timer, put the screws back in, and done. I hadn't read any hints about installing the starter. It was easy to put in once I figured out how it attached - two slide-on pins. I used a screwdriver to wiggle the old one off, swap out the wires to the new one and slide it on the pins - the only difficulty is getting your hands into a small space. A flashlight is very helpful. The frig worked fine after I replaced the starter. 

Replaced the solid state starter, after following the troubleshooting guidance on the site. 

I noticed that the compressor was not coming on. I search the internet for the issues I was having and founded that ts most likely because of a bad starter relay. This is the Switch that turns the compressor on. Also please note that Prior to this faulty Compressor switch my fridge was extremely cold without any issues. 

New start relay. 

Traced the trouble to the compressor starter. Entered the model number on line. Found wiring diagram and part number. Entered part number on line. Appliance parts pros popped up and 2 days later my beer is cold....
