This part is a center section kit with a filter, and it is used on lawn tractors. The center section is part of a hydrostatic transmission. The hydraulic pump uses pressurized oil to move pistons which then transfer power to the motor and engage the lawn tractor wheels. The center section is meant to integrate the hydrostatic transmission with the transaxle components.A new center section kit with a filter will be needed if the original is cracked, scratched, broken, bent, or damaged in any way.
