Description

MTD air cleaner cover assemblies are located outside of air cleaners found in MTD gas string trimmers. The cover is used to secure the air filter in place. It also is used to protect the internal parts from debris, including the carburetor. The air cleaner cover may need replacing after damage in situations such as the trimmers being dropped. The original cover could also become lost after routine use and therefore ineffective at keeping out dirt, dust, and other particles. These conditions require a replacement to continue the proper protection of the air cleaner and subsequently the engine.Locate the air cleaner cover by determining where the air filter is on the MTD lawn trimming machine. Make sure the tool is cool. Wear gloves for safety. Remove the two screws holding on the existing air cleaner cover if there is one in place.
