Before the engine can ever start, fuel first has to come from the tank to the carburetor via the fuel line. The fuel line runs from the inside of a fuel tank and into the carburetor. It attaches to the side of the lawn mower using two small metal clamps. Fuel lines are almost always made of either vinyl or rubber and, because of their location on the outside of the lawn mower, they can easily snag on something and tear. If the fuel line tears, gasoline will begin leaking from the fuel tank and pose a potential fire risk. Fortunately, changing out a fuel line is easy. With a pair of needle-nose pliers, pull the damaged fuel line from the carburetor and out through the fuel tank. Reinsert the new line and clamp it down to the mower.
