Description

A wing knob is an essential but often overlooked piece of equipment used on many gasoline-powered lawn tools. On snowblowers, this versatile connector is used to adjust the exit chute. The knob handle is easily gripped and made of durable plastic, so when wearing mittens or thick gloves, one can still grasp and turn the wing knob. On many lawn mowers, the wing knob is used to secure and adjust the handle to the mower or, with mowers that have folding handles, to lower and store the handle for ease of transporting the mower. While it does not seem that one would ever need to replace a wing knob, these fasteners may be lost when mowers are moved from one lawn to another or when the mowers are being stored until the next growing season. On rare occasions, the threads in a wing knob can be stripped if they are not turned tightly enough when first fastened after unbending mower handles.
