This is a blade adapter assembly for a lawn mower. The blade adapter serves as a mount for the blade allowing it to freely rotate. A mounting bolt and blade support hold the blade in place, with the bolt fastening directly into the blade assembly. This is a genuine OEM part and is sold individually. This part is compatible with several brands, including Cub Cadet, Troy-Bilt, Yard Machines, and Yard Man. Blade adapters should be replaced when they are worn or broken. A broken or sheared key in the blade adapter will cause the blade to loosen. To replace the blade adapter, first disengage the engine and weight the mower down. Prop the cutting blade before positioning a ?-inch socket on the bolt. Then use a mallet to strike it and loosen the mounting bolt. Unthread the bolt and remove the blade support and blade. A mallet or gear puller will help to remove the old adapter. The new blade adapter can then be installed by aligning the key with the slot in the crankshaft and pushing it into place. Replace the blade, cutting edge down, align the support, and rethread the bolt. Secure the blade before torquing the bolt to 30 foot-pounds.
