The Drying Rack is an OEM part for Whirlpool steam dryers. It provides a flat, stable surface for drying clothes during steam cycles. As steam rises through the rack, it penetrates fabrics to release wrinkles faster while retaining moisture for a smoother finish. 

Symptoms of a bad drying rack include:

• Items not drying properly or evenly during steam cycles
• Excessive wrinkling or fabric deformation 
• Shorter fabric life due to over-drying
• Lack of steam penetration and wrinkle release 

Causes of drying rack failure can be cracking or warping of the plastic rack surface over multiple heat cycles. Mineral buildup from hard water may also reduce steam penetration.
