Symptoms of a bad ice dispenser lever include:
- Failure to dispense ice when the lever is lifted
- Loose, wobbly, or uneven movement of the lever
- Ice dispenser mechanism not triggering properly
Causes of a bad lever can be worn gears or connector linkages inside the ice dispensing mechanism from repeated use over time.

I replaced the Ice Dispenser Lever. Since the replacement part is only available in white and my fridge is bone, I replaced also the Water Dispenser Lever, so it looks much better.
I followed the instructions in the video, which were very useful and very well done. My problem was that the refrigerator is a KitchenAid built-in, while the instructions were for a Whirlpool, so the removal of the faceplate was quite different from what was shown in the video and more difficult.
