Symptoms of a bad ice dispenser lever include:
- Failure to dispense ice when the lever is lifted
- Loose, wobbly, or uneven movement of the lever
- Ice dispenser mechanism not triggering properly
Causes of a bad lever can be worn gears or connector linkages inside the ice dispensing mechanism from repeated use over time.

I replaced the Ice Dispenser Lever. Since the replacement part is only available in white and my fridge is bone, I replaced also the Water Dispenser Lever, so it looks much better.
I followed the instructions in the video, which were very useful and very well done. My problem was that the refrigerator is a KitchenAid built-in, while the instructions were for a Whirlpool, so the removal of the faceplate was quite different from what was shown in the video and more difficult. Piece of cake. Literally no hardware required.
Just looked at the diagram provided for my fridge.
The parts fit perfectly.
The replacement clip was inexpensive.
The 2 bars I needed I thought were very expensive. But I needed them so I could store my condiments- to free up space on my shelves.
But - I did it all by myself.
No man- no tools. :)
