The Alumilastic Cement is an OEM part for Whirlpool appliances, typically used in refrigerators and freezers. It serves as a thermal mastic compound, designed to provide a secure and heat-conductive bond between various components, such as evaporator coils and the interior walls of the appliance.
Causes of a bad alumilastic cement can include drying out, cracking, or losing its adhesive properties over time. This can occur due to age, exposure to temperature fluctuations, or improper application. When the cement fails, it can lead to poor thermal conductivity and decreased cooling efficiency.
Symptoms of a bad alumilastic cement include:
- Reduced cooling performance
- Unusual noises from the cooling system
- Components becoming loose or detaching
- Increased energy consumption
This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Ice maker wouldnt make ice Ty G. • Lewis Center , OH • December 30, 2014
I used your online troubleshooting tips and watched the videos on your site. I determined my thermostat was defective, ordered the thermostat which arrived in two days and I replaced the thermostat and I now have a full bin of ice !!!
The do it yourself video was extremely helpful and made the repair very easy.
Thanks so much for the great service and quick delivery !!!

Fan was intermittantly squeeking presumably the bearing was wearing out (it had lasted over 40 years on this faithful old sears coldspot freezer ) Reid B. • Sammamish , WA • August 27, 2014
Replaced fan. The one in the replacement kit was not identical, and neither the how-to video nor the instructions that came with the fan were much help, but an adapter plate that came in the kit made it work.
Note that I had to supply some machine screws and tap out some holes for them in order to attach the fan to the adapter.
