The repair was simple. Having used Appliance Parts Pro in the past for much needed repair parts, I simply unplugged the machine, turned off the water and removed the drain hose and slid unit forward. I then removed the top control panel like last time, tilted the body forward and set it aside. I unfastened the upper hose to the water pump and slid what was left of the old shield out and slid the new replacement shield back into place then reattached the flex hose.
