- Helps keep mechanisms aligned and reduces wobble or separation
- Common symptoms when missing or damaged: loose or fallen-off parts, scraping/rattling noises, or poor operation of the affected assembly

Install notes:
- Unplug the refrigerator before servicing; wear eye protection (spring clips can snap)
- Use needle-nose pliers or an E-clip tool to compress and seat the ring in the groove
- Verify the ring is fully seated and flush in the groove before reassembly
- Keep any spacers/washers in the original order during removal and reinstallation

Replaced auger nut , washer, and e-ring on end of auger. This allowed the auger to rotate correctly, and not "rub" the sides of the ice dispenser housing.
