The Spark Module is an OEM replacement part for GE gas ranges. It is responsible for generating electric sparks to ignite the gas burners on the cooktop. The spark module produces consecutive sparks when a surface burner knob is turned on, which ignite the gas mixture and allows the burner flame to ignite safely and consistently.
Causes of a bad spark module can include faulty electrodes, worn internal components that hamper sparking, or damage due to moisture intrusion or power surges over time.
Symptoms of a bad spark module include:
- Burners that will not ignite or only intermittently ignite
- Flashback or burning above the burner head
- The smell of gas when turning burners on
This GE replacement part is also compatible with models from Hotpoint, RCA, and certain Kenmore gas ranges.

Disconnected Igniter clip. Removed the small access plate. Unscrewed holding screws from broil burner and removed the old Burner and Igniter.
Put the new burner and Igniter together and reversed the process.
So far so good. Was a $70 repair or a $1000 new...
