The Fan Blade Grommet is an OEM replacement part for GE brand refrigerators. Located behind the evaporator fan blade where its central shaft passes through, this rubber sealing piece creates a protective barrier isolating the fan assembly.
Causes of a potentially problematic fan blade grommet include cracks or deterioration that develop from continuous vibration and impacts over extended use. Exposure to temperature fluctuations can also cause the rubber to harden and lose elasticity.
Symptoms of a faulty fan blade grommet include:
- Airflow obstructions within the duct
- Noisy vibrations from the fan assembly
- Rubber debris collecting on components
This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore model refrigerators.

I had a very noisy evaporator fan in older GE refrigerator top freezer Richard B. • Casa Grande , AZ • December 06, 2019
Replaced the evaporator fan motor, fan blade, and two rubber grommets. I was careful to mark screws and bolts with sticky notes to ensure getting them back in the right place. I had all the new parts ready before I started the job because I did not have an extra freezer for my food and I wanted to do this quickly and only once. New parts went in well, Took a while to install the ring for the new fan blade using my long nose pliers. I would have saved time if I had the special ring spreader...

- Unusual noises during the ice-making cycle, which could indicate that the drive cup is not engaging correctly with other components.
- Decreased efficiency in ice production, as the mechanism struggles to operate smoothly.
This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

The Ice Door Spring is an OEM part compatible with GE refrigerators. It is responsible for providing tension and support to the ice chute door, allowing it to open and close smoothly. When you activate the ice dispenser, the spring helps to release the door and allow the ice to pass through. After dispensing, the spring assists in closing the door to prevent cold air leakage and maintain the desired temperature inside the refrigerator.
You should replace the ice door spring if it loses tension or breaks, which can happen due to regular wear and tear, frequent use, or accidental damage. A faulty spring can lead to issues with the ice dispenser's operation and overall efficiency.
Symptoms of a bad ice door spring may include:
- Difficulty in opening or closing the ice chute door
- Ice dispensing issues, such as the door not opening when the dispenser is activated
- Cold air leakage from the ice chute area
- Ice buildup on the front of the icemaker
This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Ice dispenser door not closing tightly; frost build up in ice chute; mold growing behind ice and water mechanism Terrance A. • Arleta , CA • March 21, 2017
The ice dispenser door was not closing tightly. As a result, there was frost build up in the ice chute, which also was allowing ambient air and temperature into the freezer compartment. Upon further inspection, there was black “schmutz” on the ice door, and the rubber ice funnel and deflector parts were deteriorating. Because the door was not closing tightly, I also assumed that the door-closing spring was week. The parts I ordered were: ice door assembly, ice funnel, ice deflector, spring and...
