This refrigerator compressor start device supplies the initial boost to start the compressor and supports reliable operation. When it weakens or fails, you may hear clicking from the rear and experience poor cooling or a compressor that won't run. What it does:
- Sends momentary power to the compressor's start winding for dependable start-up
- Opens the start circuit once the compressor is running
- Works with the compressor's protection to prevent overheating damage
- Failure symptoms may include: warm temps or no cooling, compressor won't start, or repeated clicking/humming then shutting off
What's included:
- One start device assembly
Install notes:
- Disconnect power before servicing
- Access the compressor compartment (rear lower panel); locate the start device on the side of the compressor
- Note wire positions, pull the old device straight off the compressor pins, and seat the new device fully; reconnect wiring
- Reinstall panels and restore power; allow temperatures to stabilize

The Screw is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. This screw secures the refrigerator door hinge in place, allowing the door operates smoothly and seals properly.
Over time, screws can become loose or go missing during repairs or adjustments, which can lead to a misaligned door, compromised sealing, and increased energy consumption.
Symptoms of a bad screw include:
- The refrigerator door seems misaligned or does not close properly.
- Increased effort needed to open or close the door.
- Unusual gaps around the door seal when closed.
- The door might squeak or make other noises during operation.
This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

I wanted my white refrigerator to be stainless Andrena K. • Havana , FL • September 26, 2015
We (2) covered our 36" white frig in peel & stick stainless. Two challenges: the (fake) "stainless" was 3/16" shorter than 36". I expected, correctly, the material should wrap around the doors until the edges were under the gasket. You find out, when it is heated with a hairdryer, it can shrink or if pushed, it can stretch that disparately needed 3/16". Putting the gasket back and successfully getting the edge of the material under gasket edge is a challenge. Appliance Pros picked out the...

A friends family had left her refrigerator out on a porch while they were remodeling the house she was supposed to move into. A wind storm blew the refrigerator off the porch and tore the door off. It wasn't dented at all, but when her son pu the door back on, it wouldn't seal. She asked for some help fixing it. I ordered replacement parts for the upper and lower hinge. Water on the floor and ice tray was a mess. Edward S. • Oakmont , PA • June 14, 2021
Took things apart after watching the videos and saw the ice maker was functional but all corroded or dirty with stuff from water and in watching the video realized the water on the floor was unrelated to the ice maker.
I bought the parts to make the repair. Two comments to the videos, the one for the icemaker should show how to get the top basket out of the freezer. I found another video that showed how to do that and was much easier to get to the ice maker and to remove the back panel. ...
