Fix excessive vibration, banging during spin, or washer walking across floor. This damper assembly controls drum movement. Moderate DIY repair.
Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You
LG WM3170CW washing machine excessive vibration. Nathaniel S. • Saugus , MA • October 28, 2017
My LG front load washing machine was vibrating severly on the spin cycle. I noticed the drum was tilted toward the back of the machine, so I replaced the rear damper. The repair was straightforward: just undo the back cover and swap out the damper. Using a deep socket to push the barbs on the pins holding the damper in place made the repair easier.

Secures the washer’s tub and basket during moving to prevent internal damage. If the originals are missing after a move, install replacements for transport and remove them before using the washer.
What it does
- Locks the tub and basket to limit movement in transit
- Helps prevent suspension damage and internal rattles while relocating
- Replaces missing, bent, or stripped transport bolts
- Useful for moves, storage, or service shipments
What’s included
One shipping bolt assembly (sold individually).
Install notes
- Unplug power and turn off water before service
- Insert through the rear panel into the designated mounting point; tighten snugly—don’t overtighten
- Do not operate the washer with shipping bolts installed; remove all bolts after placement

Usage tip
After removal, bag and tape the bolts to the cabinet so they’re on hand for the next move.

Le error code tub would not spin / rotate. Javier R. • Joliet , IL • May 04, 2020
Wendy on the phone was very helpful. WM3997HWA/01 is an all-in-one washer/dryer from 2017 and does not have a rotor position sensor on the stator. She helped determine that Stator Assembly AJB73816004 was the fix. There is also a 00 or 01 after the model number which can be found on the serial number tag when you open the door that identifies the different series. Easy repair to take on. Hope this helps.

Wahser made a loud noise in spin cycle Michael Z. • Indianapolis , IN • October 18, 2014
I suspected the tub gears where ready to break so I dismantled my LG WM2032HW front load washer. I found the spyder gear corroded and broken. I also found that the stainless steel drum abraded the front tub cover so bad, it was cracked. My washer is an early model and always had standing water in the door seal after a wash. What I learned is LG stopped making the orginal front tub cover and replaced it with one that had a drain hole at the bottom front edge. I also learned that this new...
