After searching how much it would cost to repair, i felt i should just replace the microwave till one of the customer in the appliance repair shop told me to order the replacement button. I research and found that it was cheap to replace with basic tools. Ordered the parts, and it took me 20 minutes to replace. The fan that cools the main unit had started making noise a few weeks ago, I tried cleaning and lubricating the bearings, but the fan would make noise when it heated up, then finally stopped.

Removed OTR microwave. Checked the thermostat switches while power was applied with a DVM. Noticed that when a certain set of wires was moved the slightest bit the microwave would power up. Traced the wires to the thermostat switch for the cavity. Noticed that where one (of two) Faston terminals was crimped to the thermostat switch was black. (should be copper colored). That is a sure sign of arcing from a loose connection. Since the specification for the switch was to trip at 248F degrees...
