This genuine OEM part is a compression spring for a lawnmower. The compression spring is the spring that holds the mower deck onto the lawnmower. Over time, the compression spring can become degraded due to excessive wear and tear. If it is no longer securing the mower deck, it will need to be replaced. Luckily, replacing this part is a relatively simple process. To replace the spring, make sure the mower deck is set to the lowest position. Locate the old retainer spring and pull it out and away from the mower. Once removed, slide the new spring into its proper position. Make sure it fits tightly, and the mower deck is secured. Once secured, power the mower to see if the spring stays in place during operation. If it does, then the installation was a success. This replacement part is sold individually and is compatible with MTD brand lawnmowers.

An idler pulley is an essential part of many small and medium sized gasoline powered tools. This idler pulley is used in equipment such as tillers, lawn tractors, log splitters, edgers, snow blowers, and trimmers. The idler pulley is necessary so that the engine can run without the tool's moving parts being engaged. For instance, a lawn tractor running without the cutting blades turning or the wheels rolling. Once the idler pulley is engaged, the blade begins to turn. There is a great deal of resistance encountered by the idler pulley each time the equipment's tools begin to turn. Over time, the pulley can become worn and will eventually need to be replaced. If there is a squealing sound whenever the moving parts of a lawn tool are engaged, it is probably a sign that the idler pulley is about to fail. The pulley itself is attached to the engine housing with 9/16 hex bolts and requires an adjustable wrench and 9/16 ratchet to remove and replace. Always use a genuine OEM manufactured replacement part such as this one when replacing the original, as this part is identical to the original. This part is compatible with equipment manufactured by Bolens, MTD, Cub Cadet, Huskee, and Troy Bilt.
This part is discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available for purchase.

The hex head self-tapping screws are designed for a number of applications in lawn and garden equipment, primarily holding machinery and engine parts together. Over time, screws can become stripped, fall out, or otherwise get damaged, resulting in a need for replacement. When replacing screws and other hardware, always be sure to disengage or disable any power supply to reduce the risk of shock or other injuries. The self-tapping screw makes it easy to replace, and the fact that they are manufacturer-guaranteed ensures a perfect fit for compatible machines. This OEM self-tapping screw is compatible with several machines from RYOBI, MTD, Husky, Cub Cadet, Yard-Man, Troy-Bilt, Bolens, and Yard Machines. It can be found in lawnmowers and tractors and can be in multiple locations, depending on the exact model. This screw is sold as a single piece; order multiple quantities if needed.
