A momentary switch, also known as a kill switch, is a safety precaution that kills an appliance's engine in a moment, even if the engine is not set to the off position. This helps prevent accidents if the operator begins to lose control of the trimmer. At the touch of a button, the engine cuts and cannot be restarted for a short period (usually about five seconds).
