This is an ice maker recirculation pump assembly. This part includes a motor and pump that sends water from the reservoir over the top of the evaporator plate. This forms the slab of ice that will then drop onto the cutting grid to make ice cubes.In the event that the appliance is not making ice, it could be because this part has gone bad. Some users report the pump becoming calcified and then no longer working. Whether this happens or not can depend upon the water quality. Unplug the appliance from the electrical outlet prior to attempting to replace this part.
