Manufacturer Part Number: 00492429

The Ignition Device is an OEM component specifically designed for Bosch gas ranges. This device is responsible for generating the spark needed to reliably light the burners on the cooktop.

Symptoms of a faulty ignition device include:

  • Inconsistent or intermittent burner ignition
  • Small flames that do not spread fully across burners
  • Complete failure of one or more burners to light
  • Burners extinguishing unexpectedly during use

Causes of ignition device problems tend to be worn over time from repeated use. Exposure to moisture, residue buildup, or physical impacts can also potentially damage sensitive electronic components.

This OEM Bosch part is also compatible with Thermador, Gaggenau, and some Kenmore gas ranges and cooktops.

Jerry, the part number for the broil ignitor is [00492429] and you should be able to change it out from the front. The ignitor should be mounted directly to the burner and has two screws holding it onto the burner. There is also a plate that the ignitor wiring passes through that is held on by two screws. You will need to remove the plate and the screws mounting the ignitor. You should then be able to gently pull the connector out through the front unless it gets caught on something. If it does get caught on something and does not easily come out, then you may want to pull the entire unit out to change the connector to prevent damage to the wiring harness.
