The Lock is an OEM part for Bosch microwaves. This part ensures the microwave door closes securely. This lock mechanism plays a vital role in microwave safety, preventing the appliance from operating if the door is not properly closed.

Causes of a bad Microwave Door Lock can range from normal wear and tear, which gradually degrades the lock's integrity, to accidental damage or misalignment from rough handling.

Symptoms of a malfunctioning Microwave Door Lock include:

  • The microwave refusing to start or stopping unexpectedly, indicating the door isn't securely latched.
  • A loose feeling or visible damage to the door lock, suggesting it cannot engage properly.
  • Warning signals or error messages displayed by the microwave, pointing to a door closure issue.

This genuine OEM Bosch part is also compatible with Thermador, Gaggenau and select Kenmore models.

Lee, with the power cord unplugged, the microswitches will need to be tested for continuity for proper operation. The top microswitch 00617228 should measure open (no continuity) from terminal to terminal until the plunger is pressed. The middle switch 00617229 should measure closed (continuity) from terminal to terminal until the plunger is pressed. The bottom switch 00617230 should measure open from terminal to terminal until the plunger is pressed. If any of these switches fail, it will need to be replaced. If the switches test good, the wires will need to be inspected for any grounded connections that could create a short. The last possibility would be that the main control 11016115 would be the most likely failure.
