Rafael November 14, 2019 for Model Number X301XP Is there an easier way to identify if it's the mechanical Latch system that's not locking the door? I find that the oven still turns on and heats up fine unless it's the Self Cleaning function then the self-cleaning doesn't turn on because the latch doesn't lock. Please let me know how I could possibly identify why my latch isn't locking.
1 Answer Rafael, aside from doing a voltage test at the latch motor to ensure it is receiving proper voltage, the latch can be observed for rotation. If the motor rotates and moves the latch, then it is possible that the switches are not operating properly. The switches can be tested for continuity (with the power turned off from the entire unit). With the switches being activated at the plunger, the terminals on each switch should have continuity. If the motor is receiving voltage but not moving the latch, or any of the switches fail for continuity, then the lock assembly has failed. Read More...
Steve September 17, 2019 for Model Number thermador Oven SEMW302BP Symptom: Oven door will occasionally not close completely so that the oven does not know to heat/reheat. Question: Is there an easy way of determining if I need to replace the latch lock assembly vs. somehow tightening the latch springs? Thank you
1 Answer Steve, you may want to inspect the latch lock assembly to ensure that it is fully in the unlocked position and is not catching on the door lock insert. If it is, then the proper correction would be to replace the lock assembly. Another thing to check for would be any small obstructions that could be getting caught in between the door and cabin.
