Symptoms of a bad oven temperature sensor include:

  • Inability to accurately read or achieve set target temperatures
  • Fluctuations in readings displayed

Lys, if the sensor is showing no resistance at all, it would certainly have failed as it should read around 1000 ohms. However, the sensor having failed with 0 resistance open circuit should have caused an error code to show on the display control. If no error codes have shown, then there may be more issues going on within the main control itself.

Lys, when following the wire of the sensor from the cabin back, there should be a red connector end of the wire. This is where the sensor would be disconnected in order to replace the sensor. 40 ohms is certainly too low for this sensor as it should be over 1000 ohms at room temperature.

Michael, You will want to test the oven sensor for a resistance at room temp of 77 degrees for 1090 ohms and then set the unit for 350 and the resistance should be 1654. If the sensor is within range then the sensor is good and if it is not then the it would need replaced. if it is good then the control board would need replaced.
