The Sensor is an OEM replacement part for Bosch ranges. It monitors conditions inside the oven compartment such as temperature and diagnosing faults. 

Symptoms of a bad sensor include:

  • The oven not heating or cooking unevenly
  • Inaccurate temperature readings displayed  
  • Erratic or unpredictable ignition/operation  
  • Error codes appearing related to sensor faults

Causes of failure can be normal wear over time from high heat exposure, accidental damage compromising sensor integrity, or intrusion of liquids or debris confusing readings.

This OEM Bosch part is also compatible with Thermador, Gaggenau, and some Kenmore ranges.

Lisa, the oven sensor will read the oven temperature and tell the control board whether to turn the elements on or off. Typically the relays on the control will fail to open and close properly and therefore you get an inconsistent temperature. You can check the sensor with a multimeter for resistance, it should read about 1080 ohms at room temperature. If the readings are good, you would need to replace the control board, the part number is 00655359

Francis, the model number provided is registering as a Thermador/Bosch model and may need to be verified. However, as this model does register as such, the sensor 00642855 would work with this model. Usually, brands will not cross over in regards to parts.

Colleen, The first thing you will need to test is your temperature sensor for a resistance reading of 1100 ohms at room temp. Any reading out of this range plus or minus 10% and the sensor would need to be replaced.
