Neal March 05, 2013 for Model Number Thermidor PCS486GDUS 48" Pro Cooktop (Star Burners) Front left burner spark ignitor not working to ignite gas burner. All other ignitors working fine. I have cleaned the ignitor. No cracks in the porcelin part of the ignitor seen. Ignitor feels just slightly loose, has a little wiggle in it, unlike the other ignitors. I can, however, just barely see a spark down below the surface where the ignitor comes through, but it is not above the level of the burner enough to light the burner. The spark is apparently finding another ground somewhere below where it is supposed to. My question is how to access and remove the ignitor? Does the burner come out, and if so, how? I suspect replacing the ignitor is a simple job, and I see you have it in stock, I just don't know how to access it to replace it. Thanks for your help.
1 Answer Neal, It does sound like the ignitor has a crack or chip in the porcelain under the top, or a loose /shorted connector. It can be simple and easy, but not very often. You'll need to remove the "star" burner cap 00189015 then the venturi tube nut 00189023 these have a tendency to seize to the jet holder 00188976 and can create a bit of a big issue (quite often they need to be cut off),once off you can lift the burner base 00488372 off the top.Then you can carefully lift the burner mount tray off the support rail and remove the wires to the igniter and change out the igniter. 1 Answer Hi. Clean and make sure the burner cap is placed correctly on the top of the burner for the Spark Electrode (igniter) part # 00415124. It is common for the spark igniter that is ceramic wrapped, will crack and then the spark will short off to the nearest ground (bare metal) top. For some reason, the clip 00189322 is separate. Jon November 01, 2012 for Model Number PG366B/12 I have a Thermador Range that keeps having a problem with the oven igniter. It has been replaced twice in the 5 years we have owned the range, but the last time it only lasted about 6 months. Could there be another problem besides the igniter? I need to replace it again. 1 Answer Hi. When you replace the oven igniter part # 00627375 repack the surrounding hole left open where it passes from the inside cavity to the outside area. This allows the oven heat to escape and burn out the igniter prematurely. Thank You. Read More...

I got the clip off the bottom of the ignitor(just under the spring), but is the ignitor supposed to slide thru the burner housing from the top to the bottom? Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Jeff. You will check and make sure the burner and the igniter are good and clean which will give a good ground. The igniter pulls upward out of the burner. Also make sure the igniter 00415124 reads closed for continuity and the ceramic is not cracked. Hope this helps. Read More...

March 19, 2012 for Model Number Thermador PCS364GD I am assuming a need a spark ignitor (AP2832516) and I was told by another company I did, also, but sinece you have actual technicians answering questions....the burner won't light. It clicks, but no spark, therefore no flame. All 3 other burners work fine. If I do need this part my next question has to do with the removal and installation of said part. I have my burner removerd and I can't figure out how to remove the existing ignitor (I don't want to snap it or get it permanently stuck in there. And then, when I receive the part from you, how do I install it into the burner housing? Thank you so much in advance for your guidance. -Jeff
1 Answer Hello Jeff. First thing you will need to check is the ground for the igniter. If the igniter is dirty and is no making a good ground, it will not spark. If it is clean and dry, and there is power coming to the igniter and it does not spark, then you may have a bad igniter 00415124.
