The Dishwasher Water Inlet Valve is an OEM part for Bosch dishwashers that is responsible for controlling the flow of water into the dishwasher at the start of each wash cycle. The water inlet valve opens to allow water to enter the dishwasher and then closes to ensure the correct amount of water is used during the cycle.

Symptoms of a bad Dishwasher Water Inlet Valve include:

  • Inadequate water filling the dishwasher.
  • Overfilling, which can cause leaks and potential water damage.
  • Unusual noises coming from the valve area.
  • The dishwasher not starting.

Causes of a bad water inlet valve can vary from mineral buildup from hard water, which can block the valve, to mechanical failure or wear and tear over time. Electrical issues can also affect the valve's operation, preventing it from opening or closing properly.

This OEM Bosch part can also be used on Thermador and Gaggenau appliances.

Dan H for Model Number Shx8er55uc

I realize I have an older Bosch but I’ve noticed many parts fit several models. I’m trying to find a water inlet valve but I’ve found several part numbers and I’m not sure if there’s a cross over. BTW my problem is the washer fills back up with water after it sets for a couple days. I’ve turned off the shut off valve under the sink and the problem stops. There is a valve of some sort inside the water inlet hose located where the hose from under the sink connects to the hose from the dishwasher. Hopefully that makes sense. I’m not sure if my model has the aqua sense system or not. Looking at parts diagrams that hose is the closest thing that I’ve found. Thank you for your help.

JP, If the unit is not filling with water then the first place to start is make sure that there is 120 Vac getting to the water valve. If there is but no water is coming in then the valve would be the issue. If there is no power then check to make sure that the float and switch is good. If they are then the issue will be the control board.

David, the valve should still be able to operate as long as it has voltage reaching it.
