Symptoms of a bad water inlet valve include:

  • Dishwasher not filling with water
  • Low water pressure during cycles
  • Leaks or water pooling under the dishwasher

This OEM Bosch part is also compatible with Thermador, Gaggenau, and some Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Bosch Water Valve (Part Number: OEM21579336)

Jim, the error E17 is going to indicate that the safety float was activated during a fill cycle. If the water filled enough to cause the float in the tub to rise, or if an item was stuck underneath it, the error code will show. If it has not continued, it is likely that the float was stuck upwards enough but has settled into the down position. In regards to the detergent pods not dissolving, this can occur if the hot water is not primed at the sink first as it will cause the dishwasher to have to heat the water up to temperature. If the hot water is being primed, the next step would be identifying if the circulation motor is providing enough pressure to circulate the wash arms and if a wash arm jet is clogged or if there are any cracks.

Jim, Getting the E17 error, indicates no water coming into the unit. Make sure that the water is turned on, make sure that there is 120 vac getting to the valve. If there is not power to the valve then it will be a faulty control board.
