The Surface Element is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire electric ranges, designed to provide efficient and even heating for cooking on the stovetop. This component is a radiant surface element commonly seen on glass and ceramic cooktops. 8 inch, 2200 watt

Causes of a faulty Surface Element can be due to overuse causing burnout, physical damage like cracks from heavy cookware, electrical issues such as faulty wiring, and corrosion disrupting heating.

Symptoms of a bad Surface Element include:

  • Not heating up, indicating it may be burnt out or disconnected.
  • Heating irregularly or only partially, suggesting there might be damage to the element.
  • Taking longer than usual to heat up, which could point to electrical issues or reduced efficiency due to wear and tear.

This OEM Frigidaire part is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator and some Kenmore models.

For Frigidaire Element, Surface (Part Number: OEM11891247)

Dean C for Model Number FEF379ACE

The hot surface light does not go off when the cook top is cold... Am i correct that the sensor is part of the burner? Can i replace just the sensor without replacing the burner as tall the burners work properly? I do not see it listed on the parts list. Do you have a part number for the sensor? I believe it is the front left burner but have not ohm'd it out yet....I'm assuming it is the white probe that extends across the burner and it looks pretty simple to replace with just 2 small screws. Would you have a clear copy of the wiring diagram available as the ones online are too blurry when i zoom in....

1 Answer

Dean, The sensor is not available as a separate part and you would need to get the element.

The surface burner 318198834 on my range Frigidaire has burned. Now the right one part cost a lot can I replace with other # for another model of Frigidaire which is cheaper, if both has the same 2200W and 8" ?

1 Answer

Hello Mehdi, I'm sorry but if the manufacturer does not list the part number under the model number, the part cannot be guaranteed to fit or operate properly.

Ralph, With the element turning on and off sporadically, this will most likely be caused by a limiter on the element and would need to have a new element.

Grace, On the back of the original element there is a bracket that you will need to switch over to the new element. Make sure that you pay attention to the number that the screw is in and put it back in the same position on the new one.

Hello Urich. Open the oven door and remove the screws under the front lip of the cooktop. Now lift the top glass to access and replace the surface element.
