Restore dependable oven-light operation. This door-activated switch turns the oven's interior light on when the door opens and off when it closes, letting you check food at a glance and preventing the light from staying on unnecessarily. What it does:

  • Detects door position to control the oven cavity light on/off
  • Worn or stuck contacts can make the light stay on with the door closed
  • Failed switch can prevent the light from turning on when the door opens
  • Intermittent or flickering light may indicate a failing switch
What's included:
  • 1 switch
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power to the appliance before servicing
  • Access the switch (typically mounted in the front frame near the door opening)
  • Move wires to the new switch one at a time to maintain correct placement
  • Reinstall, then test door/light operation before final reassembly

For Frigidaire Door Switch (Oven Light) (Part Number: OEM11554989)

Don, Remove the burner grates, caps and heads. Once these are removed you will use a flat blade between the control panel and main top to release the spring clips that hold the main top in place. Once done with this, lift the main top and you should be able to take the door switch out by depressing the tabs that hold in and install the new one.

Hello Brian, This switch 316445500 is located behind the front panel and is accessed by raising the main top and reaching down to it. The control panel does not need to be touched during this repair. Be sure to unplug the unit before accessing the switch since there is 120Vac on the switch and 240Vac under the main top.

Hello Jay, If the unit is operating properly on broil, the issue will be the bake relay on the control, or the element is burned out and shorted to ground. It is more possible for the control to be at fault. If the broil is not operating properly either, you should flip the breaker off and back on since one side of the breaker tripped will be trying to heat the 240Vac element with only 120Vac. There could also be a connection issue with the power supply at the junction box, (wire nuts), wall outlet, or terminal block, (where the cord connects to the appliance).
