For Frigidaire Timer (Part Number: OEM9661971)

Bea for Model Number model 417.97812701

Hi, my laundry center won't agitate but it will fill w/water to the correct load, it will drain and it will spin. When its on the wash cycle and the water has filled, it won't move at all and there is no sound, it sounds as if it was off. Checked the agitator it all looked fine. Checked the belt and it looked fine. Heard it could be the Timer so I bought one on E-bay, big mistake cus they sent a used one and I put it on my washer anyways but there was no difference. I don't know if it was the part or if its just not the Timer. I'm past frustrated as you can probably already guess. If you could help me by pointing out what could be the problem I'd really appreciate it.

Bea, With the unit not agitating it would be best to see if there is 120 Vac to the motor when the unit should agitate. If there is not then this will likely be a wiring issue that will need to be corrected or a faulty timer.

John, It sounds like a contact in the timer is sticking. If there is power to the other components but will not advance this is the most likely cause.

Hello Steve. Check and see if the motor is running during the agitate cycle. If so, and the unit does not agitate, it is the transmission. If the motor does not do anything, it could be the pressure switch, or the wiring harness on the unit. You will need to check and see where your losing power at. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Cindy, Check and make sure the cold water faucet is opened and on. Then disconnect the cold water hose, and check and clean the debris screens in the hose and in the water valve inlet. If there's little or no cold water to the fill valve, the washer will stop at the rinse cycle.

Hello Joe, You will want to check the tan wire from x on the timer motor to the pin 5 on blower motor. Look for the wire to have continuity. If no continuity then the wire needs to be replace. If it show continiuty then the timer would be at fault.

Ridrigo, You will need to use a small flatblade screwdriver to unlock the retaining shaft at the back of the timer assembly " Timer Knob (some models) The timer knob is held on the shaft by a locking rod that extends to the rear of the timer. To remove the knob, disconnect power, remove the rear panel of the console and using a small screwdriverpull the locking rod backward to release the knob." Good Luck and Thanks
